We seek an experienced and passionate Assistant Director of Student Life – Accessibilities Services to support our diverse student body and ensure equitable access to educational opportunities.

Position Overview

The Assistant Director of Student Life – Accessibilities Services is pivotal in advancing accessibility and learning support at the College. Reporting to the Dean of Student Life, this position oversees accessibility programs, disability services, and learning support initiatives for all students, including undergraduates, graduates, and online learners. This is an exciting opportunity to lead efforts that empower students to achieve academic and personal success.

Key Responsibilities

Student Services and Program Leadership

  • Manage and assess student accommodation requests, develop plans, and ensure compliance with FERPA and HIPAA.
  • Provide students with direct mentorship and learning support, monitor progress, and offer interventions.
  • Develop and oversee peer tutoring, transition programs, and supplemental instruction services.
  • Collaborate with faculty to create accessible learning materials and promote retention.

Faculty and Staff Collaboration

  • Advise on and implement accommodations in compliance with ADA, Section 504, and other federal and state laws.
  • Facilitate training for faculty and staff to foster a culture of accessibility and inclusivity.
  • Advocate for accessibility policies and serve as a trusted advisor on accommodations.

Administrative Leadership

  • Ensure compliance with accessibility laws and assess the effectiveness of services.
  • Develop innovative programs and resources to enhance student success.
  • Promote awareness of accessibility across the institution.
What We’re Looking For

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social sciences, education, higher education, social work, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 3 years of experience in accessibility services or disability support, preferably in higher education.
  • In-depth knowledge of ADA, Section 504, and other relevant legislation.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse populations.
  • Proven ability to lead initiatives that promote equity and student success.
  • High emotional intelligence and cross-cultural competency.
  • Experience designing accessible learning materials and support programs.
