The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) at Maine College of Art & Design was recently featured in an article titled "What you can learn from Maine's college art museums this fall" in the Portland Press Herald. The fall arts preview, written by arts critic Jorge S. Arango, showcases new exhibitions at Maine colleges and universities this fall, including Objects & Power, which will be on view from October 4 through December 13, 2024, at the ICA.
Objects & Power showcases the work of ten artists who explore themes related to museums possessing and displaying human remains, curatorial bias, cultural erasure, and the line between stewardship and gatekeeping. Iris Williamson, Director of Exhibitions at the ICA, describes the exhibition as "a selection of stories told by artists dealing with those structures."
