Steve Kautz has been advancing financial literacy in Maine since 2004 and joined the Finance Authority of Maine (FAME) in 2023 as a Financial Education Programs Specialist. He studied economics at Southern Connecticut State University, holds an MBA from the University of Hartford, and served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in the Czech Republic.
For 20 years, Steve taught math and personal finance at Waynflete School, coached baseball, and helped students create the Finance Club. He led teams to Maine and New England Championships and guided LifeSmarts teams to national competitions. Named Maine Jump$tart Financial Educator of the Year in 2012, he also keynote spoke in 2015 and 2023. Steve lives in Portland with his wife Raquel and their 13-year-old son, Oliver.
